Information Services & Technology will be hosting our third Technology Fair on Wednesday, October 10 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm in George Sherman Union’s (GSU) Metcalf Hall.

This free event, open to all faculty, staff and students, is themed “Secure Your Digital Life” and is focused on helping the BU community discover how to get the most from information security services available through IS&T. IS&T cybersecurity experts and partner companies will be on hand to answer questions. Whether you want to register your laptop with BUPD, learn how to avoid phishing scams, or visit our “ask the experts” table with your questions, the 2018 Tech Fair will have something for you.

  • Faculty can learn more about keeping research data secure, using social media to promote research, and getting computers encrypted.
  • Students can learn about student data privacy, see what student cybersecurity-related groups like BUILDS are doing, and speak to staff on how keep your mobile devices protected.
  • Staff can learn about secure file storage options, when to use Secure Mail to send sensitive data, and courses in Terrier eDevelopment on cybersecurity.

In addition to the great learning opportunities, the fair will offer tasty snacks and some great giveaways. Members of the BU Community who check-in will be eligible to win one of a number of prizes, including an Apple Watch, Lenovo tablet, iPad, Fitbit and more!

This year, in conjunction with Information Security Awareness Month, we’ll also be offering shredding events across campus. You can bring paper to be shredded and electronics to be securely disposed of and recycled to our shred events on October 9-11. For locations and details visit our Shredding Event page. .
