From the Editor
The video effort continues! Last month I announced a video series entitled Introduction to BW Reporting. The series consists of seven brief videos that are prerequisites for attending any introductory-level BW workshop (Funds Management Reporting, Payroll Reporting, Grants Management Reporting, and Supplier Relationship Reporting).
This month I am pleased to tell you about the second in what I envision to be a series of video-based entries that enhance the Tips and Tricks portion of this newsletter. This month’s release addresses Filter Shortcuts. Filtering report data is probably the most frequently-used feature of BW reports. This new video demonstrates how to save you time when filtering data via either of two shortcut methods.
It takes a fair bit of work to develop these videos, so I would love to hear from anyone who watches one (or more) of them. Send me email and tell me what your experience was. What video did you watch? Did it help you to understand a concept? How was the audio quality? What about the content of the video? Was it useful? I welcome anything you care to share – good or bad – about the video.
I have provided more detail about the new video in the Tips section below.
As always, I hope you find this issue of the Newsletter informative. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions for future BW Newsletters (and videos!).

Introductory Workshops
As always, an assortment of introductory workshops will be available. These sessions present to new employees – or employees assigned a new business role – the fundamentals of reporting for a particular subject area. The sessions are a great way to review material, too. Even if you previously attended an intro session, you are likely to learn new things about reporting – or to be reminded of concepts that you had forgotten.

Tips & Tricks
Second in the Video Tips series: Filtering Report Data via Shortcut Methods (the first, in case you missed it, was Using the BW Online Help Search Box). This new video describes a one-step method of filtering report data. It’s a real time saver and is easy to use, so I encourage you to take a few minutes and watch it.
As I wrote previously, I welcome any feedback you care to offer once you have watched the video. Did you find it useful? Not so much? Do you have ideas for additional videos? Let me know!

Custom Training Sessions
Have you ever thought that it would be really useful if you could get members of your department together with a trainer to focus on BUworks functionality that is specific to the work your department does? I’m happy to work with any department or group that would like to develop and conduct a custom basic- or intermediate-level reporting training session. There are only two requirements for such a session: (1) input from the group is necessary to develop a relevant agenda, and (2) the group should include four or more employees. If you’re interested in discussing the development of a custom session for your department or school/college, contact me via email or give me a call at 617-353-6382.
