SIS Renewal Program – Undergrad Recruiting Live and MyBU soon to follow!

Kicking off in spring 2017, the Student Information Systems (SIS) Renewal Program focuses on moving BU’s Student Information Systems off outdated technology and modernizing how we interact with our tech-savvy student body. Over the next few years, the SIS Renewal program aims to provide the University with new, more flexible systems to help facilitate administrative processes for both our students and faculty, from application through graduation.

Replacing our student systems across BU requires a massive effort, both within IS&T and across all academic departments. New functionality is rolling out through individual projects focused on phases of the Student Lifecycle, and the processes within.

The first major rollout, the renewal of Undergraduate Recruitment, launched in July, moving our student recruiting team into a modern CRM (Customer Relationship Management) interface, with improved tools to:

  • Create and manage records for prospective students, linking them to schools and seeing which event they attended
  • Create customized campaigns and marketing content for different groups of prospective students
  • Manage Events and Event registration, allowing prospective students to register for events though the web

Recruitment is foundational for our SIS Renewal. The team is building on Recruitment by providing a new portal experience for our prospective students, and moving some Admissions and Financial Aid processes into the new platform:

  • Applicants will have an updated central portal experience through the community pages called MyBU
  • Applicants will be able to upload documents directly in the site
  • Applicants will more clearly understand what they must provide through Admissions and Financial Aid Checklists
  • Decision notifications can be customized for specific applicant profiles

As exciting as the new Undergrad Recruiting and Admissions tools are, it’s just the beginning!
