Students covered under BU SHIP meeting the requirements listed below may be eligible to request Fall only insurance coverage. Please complete the form linked in the corresponding requirement, and submit it to Student Financials no later than December 31, 2026.

  1. Any student not registered for the Spring 2027 term.
  2. Any student registered for the Spring 2027 term solely in BU Virtual Online Only courses.
  3. Domestic students registered for Spring 2027 who are enrolled below 75% of a full-time course load (For most programs, this is part-time domestic students registered for fewer than nine credit-hours) *.

Categories 1 – 3 may submit the Premium Adjustment Request form.

  1. Students approved for MassHealth** or a subsidized health plan through the Massachusetts Health Connector whose coverage begins no later than January 1, 2027 can submit the Fall 2026 Certificate of Coverage form.
* Spring 2027 certified full-time students and international students do not qualify for category 3, but may qualify under category 2 if the Spring courses are all BU Virtual Online-Only courses (i.e. listed in the Spring 2027 course schedule with location = online).
** The following Massachusetts Health Connector programs are NOT eligible for option 4: Health Safety Net, Mass Health Limited, and the Children’s Medical Security Program.

Fall 2026 only rates (For eligible students changing from 08/15/26- 08/14/27 to Fall only 08/15/26-12/31/26):

Spouse:  $1,560
Dependent One Child:  $1,560
Dependent Two or More Children: $3,120

NOTE: Entering SDM Post Doc, Entering SDM Pre-Doc, and Entering MED M.D. candidates: You may contact Student Financials to learn the applicable Fall-only rate.
