Elizabeth Hart, Assistant Director

Elizabeth is thrilled to be a part of the BU family and continue her work in student activities. After spending some time out west, she is so excited to be back in her native New England, and just down the street from her beloved Red Sox no less! Originally from an island off the coast of Maine, Elizabeth went to the College of Wooster in Ohio for her bachelors in anthropology where she was heavily involved on campus as a tour guide, orientation leader, and programming board leader among other leadership positions.

The daughter of two educators, the last thing Elizabeth thought she would do with her career was go into the same field – she fully intended to study architecture and live out her HGTV dreams, but was drawn to the complex social issues, particularly found in systems of education, that were discussed in her sociology and anthropology classes. After completing her senior thesis exploring refugee access to higher education, she found herself working as an admissions counselor for three years at Hampshire College. While she loved traveling across the country meeting talented, bright students and spreading the word on non-traditional forms of higher education, she wanted to try something new without leaving higher education. In grad school at UMass Amherst, she was able to explore other options from international student support services to orientation, eventually settling on student activities after being reminded of her love for creating community, bringing the campus together in fun and meaningful ways, and guiding and supporting students so they get the most out of their college years.

In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys snuggling with her two cats, Jojo and Macklin, playing board games, singing, globe trotting, baking treats, and learning new facts that’ll give her a leg up at trivia night. Once being a student leader herself, she understands the pressures and balancing act that it takes to be involved and is excited to empower and help students through their journey of self-discovery and leadership development.
