As part of its strategic goal to prioritize climate action and its commitment to support representation from underrepresented communities, the Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) Equity & Inclusion Committee is launching an emerging scholars program on the role of social work in climate justice.

The program, which will take place during the 2022–2023 academic year, connects BU community members with three early career scholars whose work focuses on climate justice.

Programming will include presentations for MSW students, networking opportunities for doctoral students and faculty, a consultation and feedback workshop, and a roundtable discussion open to the larger BU community.

BU Diversity & Inclusion funded the project as part of its Emerging Scholars Program which aims to increase the inclusion of people who are underrepresented in academia and create a more expansive community at BU.

BUSSW’s emerging scholars program on social work and climate justice is co-sponsored by the Center for Climate and Health at BU’s School of Public Health, and is co-chaired by BUSSW faculty members Daniel Jacobson López, Dawn Belkin Martinez, and Ellen DeVoe.
