Dean’s Message: Racism Claims Another Life

Dear members of the BUSSW community,

Once again, racism has claimed another victim.  On Sunday, April 11, 2021, a Black man named Daunte Wright, 20, was shot and killed by police in the city of Brooklyn Center, approximately 10 miles outside of Minneapolis, MN.

This latest crime was committed while the trial of Derek Chauvin, the police officer who murdered George Floyd in the Twin Cities last May, is still ongoing.  Unless and until the United States dismantles its current systems of institutional racism,  founded and based in white supremacy – murders like this one will continue to occur.

Our BUSSW community is committed to dismantling injustice. Our faculty, staff, students and alumni are working on many fronts to build the multiracial working class movement for an antiracist, justice-focused world.  Below are a few resources for support, education and taking action.

In solidarity,

Dean Jorge Delva
