MassLive: Student Kris Berg (MSW, MPH’27) Recognized for LGBTQ+ Activism

As part of MassLive’s profile series on LGBTQ+ leaders, BU School of Social Work student Kris Berg (MSW, MPH’27) was nominated by readers for Berg’s accomplishments and impact on the community. A member of BU’s LGBTQIA+ Task Force that recently established the University’s first LGBTQIA+ Student Resource Center, Berg encourages other activists to reflect on their positionality while creating change in the community.
Excerpt from “LGBTQ+ Leaders: Kris Berg advocates for marginalized communities in Boston” by David Cifarelli, originally posted in MassLive:
“In Berg’s words: ‘My advice to advocates embarking on similar journeys is to embrace the intricate tapestry of your own intersecting identities and lived experiences. I believe it is crucial to understand how your positionality shapes your approach to advocacy. I encourage advocates to engage in continuous self-reflection to better understand and interrogate their personal worldviews.’”
