India Wilkerson is a licensed, registered dietitian nutritionist and double Terrier, holding both a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Science and a Master’s Degree in Nutrition from Boston University. She completed her training at Boston Medical Center, and joined the SCNC in 2022, initially working as a member of the Quarantine and Isolation team.
India’s clinical focus is in food-related medical conditions and digestive disorders and she provides individual counseling to students looking for support with managing symptoms while meeting their nutrition needs. She also works with students with chronic diseases and related risk factors, disordered eating practices, as well as those looking support with healthy meal planning.
India collaborates with BU Dining Services and BU Disability & Access Services to ensure students with food-related medical conditions have access to nutritionally adequate meals and feel comfortable participating in campus dining. In this role, she provides training to student dining employees as well as students requiring Special Meal Accommodations.
In addition to nutrition counseling, India helps to train and supervise the Sargent Choice Ambassadors, a team of students who act as liaisons between Dining Services and the SCNC to promote the nutrition services available to BU students, faculty, and staff.
India also teaches Healthy Cooking on a Budget, a one-credit course offered to Boston University students. In this class, students will develop an understanding of nutrition foundation concepts, learn how to identify, purchase, and store healthy ingredients in a cost-effective way, and develop some of the basic skills needed for preparing meals and snacks on their own.
