Suggestions

  • We added a small amount of salt to the recipe, which enhanced the flavors without making it taste salty.
  • One student suggested adding mango to the recipe to introduce more flavor diversity.
  • If you’re serving this to a group, consider offering cilantro on the side so guests can choose whether to include it.
  • Consider opting for whole-grain chips, which offer added fiber to help keep you feeling full and support digestion.
  • Students can either freshly squeeze lime juice or save time and money by using store-bought lime juice.

What We Liked

  • The balance between the strawberry and cilantro created a pleasant yin and yang of flavors.
  • The lime juice complemented the strawberry beautifully, adding brightness to the dish.
  • We preferred chopping the strawberries as finely as possible to give the dish a more salsa-like consistency.
  • Students enjoyed the optional jalapeños too—they added a nice kick!

Nutritional Value

  • Strawberries and limes are great sources of vitamin C, which benefits skin health and immunity.
  • Strawberries and onions contain antioxidants, which may support healthy blood pressure and circulation.
