Lecturer in Spanish

Philip Noonan is a lecturer of Spanish at Boston University. Philip has been a member of the Department of Romance Studies in one capacity or another since 2012, originally starting as a graduate student. Philip’s Ph.D. thesis focused on the practice of lecturing in early 20th century Spain, the findings from which he hopes to continue applying to his pedagogical practice at BU. Recently, Philip has served as course coordinator for LS111 and as a steward for the BU lecturers’ union.

A lifelong musician, Philip is particularly passionate about teaching Spanish through the lens of music, focusing specifically on different genres originating from Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, and the Caribbean. His other areas of interest include film studies, activism, and creative writing.

In his free time, Philip is a gardener, singer, and poet.
