
Senior Lecturer in French
Maria Bobroff holds an AB from Dartmouth College and a PhD in French from Duke University. Prior to joining the Department of Romance Studies at Boston University, she taught at both Duke University and Guilford College (NC). A dix-huitièmiste by training, she enjoys teaching all levels of French language and Francophone literatures & cultures, as well as Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. In addition to presenting on best practices in language pedagogy, she has published on eighteenth-century French theater and Francophone African women authors. Her research interests include material culture of eighteenth- and nineteenth-century France, especially as it relates to Orientalism and Imperialism.
