Background

Laurie Garriga joined the Department of Romance Studies at Boston University in 2014. She received her BA in Journalism and Hispanic Studies from the Universidad de Puerto Rico (Río Piedras) and later completed her MA in Spanish Literature at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid. Besides her work in BU, as a PhD candidate and Teaching Fellow in Spanish, since 2015, she has been a monthly columnist for Claridad’s cultural supplement “En Rojo”. Selected publications include “Christian Ibarra, ventana adentro” (The Puerto Rico Review), “Archivo y exilio” (Observatorio del Instituto Cervantes) and «“Querido amigo y admirado poeta”: cartas entre Jorge Guillén y Francisco Matos Paoli»included in the book En busca de Francisco Matos Paolí(Ediciones Callejón). Her main research regards Spain’s Silver Age, Archives, Exile, Transatlantic Studies, and Caribbean Literatures.
