Looking for Maya Deren the Poet: Researching the Poems of a Filmaker at BU's Archives

We are pleased to announce that visiting researcher Mariana Bicudo Cunha will join us on Thursday, April 10th for a discussion of the research she's doing at the BU Maya Deren Archive on campus. She will give examples of how poetry and cinema interact in Deren's oeuvre. Mariana Bicudo Cunha holds a BA in Psychological Sciences and a MA in English and American Studies. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Modern Literatures, Arts and Cultures at the School of Arts and Humanities, University of Lisbon. Her PhD project focuses on studying the poetry and the films of Maya Deren. She is a doctoral grantee of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). She is also a researcher in the American Studies Research Group at the University of Lisbon Centre for English Studies (ULICES/CEAUL).
