Open Sila Night

Inspired by the format of an open mic night, Open Silla (open chair in Spanish) provides a platform for students, faculty, and staff to showcase a variety of artistic performances. Our last event, hosted in 2022, featured music, poetry, theater, and other performances in languages such as English, Spanish, French, Haitian Creole, Polish and more. This year, we welcome all forms of artistic expression and encourage participants to share their work in any language or format that resonates with them. The “silla” or chair symbolizes a neutral and open space for relaxation and creative freedom, allowing participants to momentarily escape the pressures of academia and enjoy the collective sharing of art.
