Cruz Publishes Monograph
Gerardo Cruz, a doctoral student in our Hispanic Language & Literatures program, has published his second monograph, Eugenia 2218. La vision posthumana de Eduardo Urzaiz, issued by the Autonomous University of Yucatán Press. The book examines the dystopic novel Eugenia (1919), written by the Cuban-Mexican author Eduardo Urzaiz, who depicted the Caribbean, Central America, and the world in the twenty-third century. Cruz approaches this novel from posthumanism, postcolonialism, and postnationalism perspectives, as well as extractive fiction and post-extraction futurism.
