San Jose State University – Spanish Translation
The Department of World Languages and Literatures at San José State University seeks a specialist focusing on the theories, practice, and teaching of Spanish-English Translation and/or Interpreting. We especially welcome applications from scholars with experience in translation and/or interpretation in one or more of the following areas: healthcare, education, law, technology/localization and entertainment/media. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in translation studies and/or interpreting, create appropriate new courses, demonstrate willingness to explore the development of interdisciplinary programs, establish strong ties with the local community, and contribute to and participate in the life and the development of the department.

Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Hispanic Literature, Linguistics, Translation Studies or related fields.
- Native-level fluency in Spanish and English.
- Experience and or expertise in teaching translation/interpretation.
- Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a socially and economically diverse student population as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.
