Earls Studies at the Institut d’Avignon
Alex Earls, one of our French Language and Literature doctoral students, participated this summer in the Institut d’Avignon program, which was made possible by funding from the Ernest A. Jackson fund. Alex tells us about their experience:
“Over my time in Avignon I got to take two courses, one on memory in francophone literature and another on the wars of religion and the history leading up to this civil war in France. Along with my classes, I was able to enjoy Avignon’s theater festival and travel around the surrounding area with and without other members of the program. It was an incredibly fulfilling experience, and I’m very glad to have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful people, explore a walkable and dense small city, and take rewarding and engaging classes.”
