Mancuso Presents at Society of Dix-Neuviémistes

Eleonora Mancuso at ConferenceThe Society of Dix-Neuviémistes held its annual conference from March 31 to April 2 in Durham, United Kingdom. This year’s conference was organized around the theme of DomiNation, inviting scholars to reflect on structures of power, identity, and resistance in nineteenth-century French and Francophone literature and culture. French PhD candidate Eleonora Mancuso presented her paper entitled, “Crip Time and Queer Disruptions: Disability, Temporality, and Devirilization in Balzac’s Le Colonel Chabert.” In her presentation, Mancuso explored the intersections of disability studies and queer theory, analyzing how Balzac’s novella disrupts normative narratives of time, gender, and embodiment.
