Burgon Researches in Paris

Haleigh Burgon Researching in Paris May 2024Haleigh Burgon, one of our PhD students in French Language & Literature, recently spent a week researching in Paris, with support from the Ernest A. Jackson Fund. Haleigh tells us:

“I spent a fruitful week in Paris researching at the Bibliothèque Marguerite Durand and the Bibliothèque Historique de la Ville de Paris. My focus was on finding non-digitized documents related to the author Daniel Lesueur and researching records related to her views on motherhood. I discovered dozens of beautiful letters written by her to fellow authors, her daughter, publishers, and more. It was so exciting to experience the materiality of these archived documents and I look forward to combing through them as I continue my research. I’m so grateful to the Romance Studies department along with the Jackson Fellowship Research Grant for making this trip possible.”
