19th Century French Studies Association Colloquium

The 2024 Semicentennial Colloquium of NCFS, on the theme of Producing and Receiving the 19th Century, will be held at Duke University from September 19-21, at the beautiful Washington Duke Inn, with a Keynote by Laure Murat, a musical event by Gabriel Richard, and other delights.

Please plan ahead: due to the football season at Duke, Sept. 19-21 were the best dates available for hosting, but it will come up fast. Abstracts are due on March 15, 2024. We will try to respond to abstracts promptly by the end of the first week of April. The registration deadline will be July 15, 2024.

We ask your understanding that staying at the Washington Duke Inn will not only facilitate your whole conference experience, and provide a great room rate of $229 a night for a double room, but will also allow us to make ends meet budgetarily.

As you will see on p.2 of the attached poster, Submissions for individual papers or sessions (between 250 -300 words in French or English) should be sent as an email attachment in Word to NCFS@duke.edu, by March 15, 2023. Nota bene: for session proposals a separate abstract for each paper should be included. Please indicate your A/V requirements on your abstract, if applicable. Organizer: Deborah Jenson (Duke U). Please also inform us of any access needs.

We ask your assistance in spreading the word on this conference and trying to get turnout worthy of a semicentennial celebration of 19th century French Studies—happening in the Centennial year of Duke University!
