Global House Hosts Azorean Chef
PBS Television’s very own Azorean Greenbean, Maria Lawton, star and producer of the show Maria’s Portuguese Table visited Boston University’s Global House at Myles Standish Hall as a guest of the Portuguese program. Maria presented on her Azorean heritage, Portuguese culture and cuisine, and the Capelinhos volcanic eruption that led to the Azorean Refugee Act of the late 1950s/early 1960s. She also worked with students to bake and eat bolo de coco e limao, an Azorean coconut lemon cake.
