José Quispe Presents at NeMLA

José Quispe Coronel, a doctoral student in our graduate program in Hispanic Language & Literatures, presented a paper at the 2023 NeMLA conference. José’s paper was titled, “Un no a la resignación o la intransigencia del deseo en Luis Cernuda.”

José tells us:

“The paper focused on analyzing the influence of six poets of the Spanish Golden Age on Luis Cernuda’s mature work, specifically in relation to his thoughts on love and desire. The presentation took as a resource not only the poetic work of the author, but also his correspondence (especially during his time of exile in the UK and USA) and his sharp and controversial work as a literary critic”
