Maurer Presents at Harvard on Zóbel
Christopher Maurer, Professor of Spanish, gave a talk recently at Harvard University, where the Spanish painter Fernando Zóbel—founder of Spain’s Museo de Arte Abstracto—studied history and literature and translated Federico Garcia Lorca in the late 1940s.
Organized by the Instituto Cervantes at Harvard, the event celebrated a Zóbel exhibition at the Prado (Madrid) and publication of the book Zóbel Reads Lorca: Poetry, Painting and Perlimplin in Love (Swan Isle Press, 2022), which includes essays by Maurer and BU Spanish minor Lincoln Son Currie, Harvard professors Luis Fernández-Cifuentes and Felipe Pereda, and Marta Mateo of the Instituto Cervantes.
