Jennifer Cazenave Wins D&I Grant
The theme of this year’s BU Diversity & Inclusion Learn More series is disability. Jennifer Cazenave, Assistant Professor of French, received a Learn More Research Grant for her current book project, Demarginalizing Cinema: Trauma, Testimony, Disability.
The book interrogates the complex legacies of non-fiction film as a powerful means of archiving and erasing traumatic histories of disability from Nazi Germany to colonial France to post-Vietnam America—three countries that once comprised the “Eugenic Atlantic.” The Learn More Research Grant will enable Cazenave to conduct archival research in Paris this spring and to work with a graduate student to translate intertitles and voiceover narrations in Nazi propaganda films.
