Gelardo Rodriguez Researches Lorca in Spain
Teresa Gelardo-Rodríguez, PhD Candidate in our Hispanic Language & Literatures program, travelled this summer to Spain with support and sponsorship from a GRS Graduate Research Abroad Fellowship. Teresa completed her research on the theater of Federico García Lorca at the Archive of the Centro Federico García Lorca in Granada and Residencia de Estudiantes and Biblioteca Nacional in Madrid.
In Teresa’s words: “The research I conducted in Lorca’s archives was focused on finding materials related to one of his most relevant and complex plays: Doña Rosita the Spinster or The Language of Flowers. Finding these materials enabled me to have me a better understanding of his creative path and led to new directions in the research on the dramatic corpus of one of the most important writers in the Spanish-Castilian language. The stay and research in Granada and Madrid have been foundational in my academic work.”
