Thanksgiving Recess – Fall 2025

Thanksgiving Recess Information for Students 

Residences: Residences will remain open during Thanksgiving Recess, which runs from Wednesday, November 26, 2025, through Sunday, November 30, 2025. 

If You Are Traveling Away from Campus: Before leaving, ensure you complete these essential pre-departure tasks: 

  • Unplug all electrical appliances (except MicroFridges and kitchen appliances in student apartments). 
  • Dispose of any items that may spoil. 
  • Throw out all trash and recycle appropriately. 
  • Leave the heat on. 
  • Turn off any water faucets. 
  • Lock all doors and windows. 
  • Bring your BUID, travel tickets, passport, medications, and most importantly, your keys. 

If You Are Staying on Campus: 

  • Residence Life offices will be closed on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28. If you need assistance, contact the RA on-call (check your residence for the posted schedule) or go to a security station in the high-rise residences. 
  • All residential rules and guest policies remain in effect during the break. 

 

Dining Services: BU Dining will operate on a reduced schedule with limited locations open: 

  • Tuesday, November 25:  
    • West will close after dinner at 8 pm and remain closed through Thanksgiving Recess. 
    • Warren & Fenway will close after dinner at 10 pm and remain closed through Thanksgiving Recess. 
    • Marciano will close after dinner at 9 pm and will remain open with a reduced schedule through Thanksgiving Recess. 
  • Wednesday, November 26:
    • Marciano will serve brunch (10 am-3 pm) and dinner (5-8 pm). 
  • Thursday, November 27:
    • Marciano will serve brunch (10 am-3 pm) and dinner (5-8 pm). There will also be a traditional Thanksgiving meal available (11 am-3 pm and 5-8 pm). Students without meal plans may attend as a guest, have their meal sponsored, or pay the door rate. 
  • Friday, November 28 – Saturday, November 29:
    • Marciano will be open for brunch (10 am-3 pm) and dinner (5-8 pm). 
  • Sunday, November 30:
    • Marciano will serve brunch (10 am-3 pm) and dinner (5-9 pm). Fenway, Warren and West will open for dinner at 4 pm.

BU Shuttle Service Adjustments: The BU Shuttle will operate on a modified schedule between Thursday, November 27, and Sunday, November 30.

Normal service resumes on Monday, December 2.

  • Special Thanksgiving Recess Shuttle Service:
    • Thursday, November 27 – Saturday, November 29: Service from 9 am-9 pm (final departures from Agganis Way at 8 pm and 8:20 pm, returning at 8:40 pm and 9 pm). 
    • Sunday, November 30: Service from 9 am-5 pm (final departures from Agganis Way at 4 pm and 4:20 pm, returning at 4:40 pm and 5 pm). 
  • Route Notes:
    • The shuttle will follow the Late Night route but will not stop at Silber Way or Marsh Chapel. Expect approximately 20-minute frequency. 
    • Stops include: Agganis Way, Comm Ave @ Amory St, Park Drive @ Beacon St, Brookline Ave @ Pilgrim Rd, Brookline Ave @ Short St, Danielsen Hall, 610 Beacon St, Comm Ave @ Granby St, GSU, Hyatt Regency, and Buick St. 
  • No Shuttle Service on These Routes:
    • 1BU: No service on Thursday and Friday. 
    • Comm Ave: No service on Thursday and Friday.
    • Late Night: No service on Thursday and Friday. 
    • Fenway: No service on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. 

 

Mailroom Hours Adjustments: Mailrooms close on Wednesday, November 27, at 8 pm and will remain closed through Thanksgiving Recess. Mailrooms will open with normal hours on Monday.
