Involving animals in research in a humane manner is something the entire University takes very seriously, especially the research community. Anyone working with animals at BU must complete trainings and other facility-specific requirements. Moreover, we have structures in place to ensure animals are well cared for at all times.
- The Animal Science Center (ASC) manages and oversees animal-related activities, including veterinary care, policies and procedures, personnel management, occupational health and safety, and design and management of BU’s animal facilities.
- The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) oversees and routinely evaluates the animal care and use program.
This section will give you the information necessary to work safely and responsibly with animals, from proper care and humane treatment to environmental enrichment and safety.
