"Learning to Trust Autonomy" Robotics Workshop
Overview:This upcoming workshop, sponsored by the BU Center for Information and Systems Engineering (CISE), will explore recent advances in learning-based and data-driven autonomous systems, such as those used in navigation, manipulation, and multi-agent coordination. While these approaches have made remarkable strides, there remains a widespread belief that they cannot yet be trusted for large-scale deployments. The central question guiding our discussions will be: "What will it take to trust and invest in learning-based systems that can cover every real-world scenario?"
The event will feature two main components:
Morning Session (CDS Building, 17th Floor): Invited talks by prominent speakers (Ani Hsieh, UPenn; Mario Sznaier, NEU; John Leonard, MIT) and an industry panel (Brendan Schulman, Boston Dynamics; Zachary Serlin, MIT Lincoln Lab; Ulrich Viereck, Symbotic).
Afternoon Session (Photonics Building, 9th Floor): The F1TENTH Autonomous Race Competition, where participants will showcase autonomous racing technologies.
This event is designed for faculty and students in the greater Boston area.
