Joe Lee joined BU’s Office of Technology Development in December 2021 as an Intellectual Property and Agreements Specialist and currently serves as IP & Licensing Manager. He is responsible for the management of the office’s patent database to ensure its accuracy and integrity, reviewing invoices and billable matters for accuracy, and assisting with agreement drafting. In addition to this, he regularly liaises with outside counsel with respect to administrative matters in order to ensure completeness of the office’s records.
Prior to working at BU, Joe worked for three years at MIT’s Technology Licensing Office as an Intellectual Property Assistant, offering administrative support for the office’s licensing and legal teams while also liaising with outside counsel regarding outstanding patent matters across the entirety of MIT’s portfolio.
Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in History and two Master of Science degrees from the University of Edinburgh in Renaissance and Early Modern Studies as well as Religious Studies.
Outside of his duties at BU, Joe is also an author and writes fantasy novels under Joseph John Lee.
