Aging with Serious Mental Illness

For providers of older adult healthcare services, this webinar provides an outline of the prevalence and presentation of serious mental health conditions among older adults. Specifically, presenters share the importance of practitioners understanding the impact of the “Silver Tsunami” of baby boomers, leading to rising rates of older adults with psychiatric disabilities. This webinar discusses prevalent serious mental health conditions, older adults experiencing homelessness and a psychiatric disability, co-occurring psychosis and dementia, and pharmacotherapy and polypharmacy. Three case studies are introduced to provide attendees with an understanding of important considerations and evidence-based interventions for older adults with psychiatric disabilities.
