E. Sally Rogers
Senior Research Scientist
E. Sally Rogers, Sc.D., is the former Executive Director and Director of Research at the Center for Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Sargent College, Boston University. She is currently a Senior Research Scientist and Research Professor at the Center. Since its founding by Bill Anthony in 1979, the Center has been a leader in the paradigm shift to a recovery focus in the mental health field, both in values and philosophy and in innovations and initiatives. Dr. Rogers has received federal funding to conduct research in these innovations and currently serves as Co-Principal Investigator of a federally-funded Research and Training Center funded by NIDILRR designed improve employment outcomes for individuals with mental health conditions. She was formerly Co-PI of a rehabilitation research fellowship training program and PI of other federally funded grants.
In her capacity as Research Professor/Senior Scientist, Dr. Rogers works with other researchers to conduct randomized trials of innovative interventions, develop measures, and conduct qualitative research. She has focused significant attention on employment research, the peer specialist workforce, and the measurement of concepts such as empowerment. Dr. Rogers is a reviewer for numerous scholarly publications in the field and has developed instruments currently being used in research studies and by service organizations worldwide (for example, the Empowerment Scale). She is the author/co-author of numerous scholarly publications on topics related to employment, health and recovery of individuals with mental health conditions.
