Filming on Campus

Boston University’s distinctive buildings, vibrant streetscape, and signature skyline offer photographers, videographers, and film directors a unique urban campus backdrop.

News photographers and videographers are welcome to photograph or shoot video of BU buildings and campus scenes from the public sidewalks and ways along Commonwealth Avenue. For permission to shoot on University property, please contact Public Relations at 617-353-2240 or pr@bu.edu.

Generally, filming is not allowed in classrooms or student residences. Public Relations is happy to consider news media requests for B-roll, such as classroom instruction, laboratory research, or campus beauty shots.

For external film production requests, including scouting locations or venues, please contact Boston University’s Events & Conferences office, or complete and submit this online form.

Note: BU is following federal, state and city guidance regarding public health protocols necessary to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. These protocols, in addition to BU’s visitor policy, must be followed while on campus. Please contact pr@bu.edu for more information.
