Update Regarding Arrest and Campus Safety
Dear Members of the Boston University Community,
I’m writing to inform you of a situation that has resulted in the arrest and charging of an individual accused of harassing and making serious threats against students, deans, and the campus community.
The individual, who is not an active student at Boston University, was taken into custody upon returning to the United States. This followed a coordinated effort among multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Boston University Police Department. The situation was closely monitored and managed throughout, and it concluded on the evening of May 14, in cooperation with external agencies.

I am sharing this development because it reflects the effectiveness of a multiagency response and the continued diligence of our law enforcement partners. We are grateful to all those involved for their professionalism, collaboration, and vigilance.
I also want to acknowledge the sadness that we feel for the members of our community who have been affected. Our concern also extends to this individual. We recognize that news like this can understandably create unease. Please know that, as always, our public safety teams remain alert, follow established protocols, and work closely with law enforcement partners at every level. Counseling services are available on campus for those who may need them.
As we head into Commencement weekend, our law enforcement and public safety teams will continue to work together to help ensure a safe environment for our community and guests while we focus on what we are here to do: celebrate our graduates and their accomplishments.
