Political Science courses you plan to take in the future and transfer back to BU:
BU has a database with transfer courses that have previously transferred into Boston University, which you can access here. If you would like CAS to pre-screen your courses to see if they have already been equated, please fill out the pre-approval form available here. If you choose to search for courses in the database and decide to take one, please still fill out the pre-approval form linked above so that CAS can put the equivalency approval on file for you. This step is necessary in order to ensure that you will be awarded credit for your transfer courses. CAS will respond within a few business days and let you know if there are any additional steps you need to take to have your transfer credit approved.
If the credit has not been pre-approved, you will need to turn in a Transfer Course Equivalency Form with a course syllabus to the Department of Political Science. Forms and syllabi can be dropped off at 232 Bay State Road at the second floor front desk or emailed to polisci@bu.edu. Additionally, please familiarize yourself with BU’s transfer course policies. We strongly recommend that you submit paperwork before you take the course to ensure that it will transfer back for credit.
Please note that reviews can take up to three weeks to process, and you will be informed via email about the outcome of your request.
For a Political Science course that was denied credit and you are looking to appeal:
You will need to turn in a Transfer Credit Appeal Form with a course syllabus to the Department of Political Science. Forms and syllabi can be dropped off at 232 Bay State Road at the second floor front desk or emailed to polisci@bu.edu.
Please note that reviews can take up to three weeks to process, and you will be informed via email about the outcome of your request.
