Her MPhil thesis examined environmental crime and illegal ecologies, with a specific focus on electronic waste smuggling, while her undergraduate research investigated infrastructural development and social inequalities surrounding large hydroelectric dams.

She is a recipient of the Environmental Crimes and Illegal Ecologies Research Grant from the Independent Research Fund Denmark. Yvonne is passionate about addressing complex socio-political challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa and aims to contribute to academia and policymaking through her research.
