Nicolas Wittstock is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Boston University. He joined the Department in 2025, following the completion of his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Washington in 2024 and a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the UC Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation.

Nic studies the political economy of advanced industrial societies, with a special focus on the political and economic impact of climate change. Other research has explored the political economy of Populism and democratic backsliding.

His work has been published in various outlets, including Cambridge University Press, Energy Policy, and the Journal of Political Institutions and Political Economy, among others.
