Avani graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry and a Minor in International Relations and then spent the next several years bouncing from academic program to academic program trying to find the right place for them, whether in STEM, law, or public policy. After a year and a half working as a Policy Advisor for a grassroots Congressional hopeful, they joined BU as a Department Administrator in January 2023.
As DA, Avani oversees scheduling, reporting, inventory, and support for faculty and students in the Political Science Department. They serve as the point-person for all issues and queries on the department’s day-to-day activities and long-term administrative tasks.
Outside of BU, Avani enjoys reading, practicing their French with Duolingo, exercising via Pokémon GO, and experimenting with different types of teas. They are a member of the Alpha Chi Sigma professional fraternity, and are completing their Master’s of International Affairs via Penn State University, focusing on the intersection of science and international security.
