Exploring fundamental particles, forces, and the evolution of the universe through experiment, observation, and theory.
Our research explores the universe at every scale: from its origins and large-scale structure to the fundamental particles and forces that shape it. Faculty and students combine observation, experiment, theory, and computation across five closely connected areas:
- Cosmology : Studying the origin, evolution, and large-scale structure of the universe.
- Experimental Medium Energy Physics ” Probing the structure and fundamental properties of matter through precision experiments.
- Experimental Particle Physics : Investigating elementary particles and their interactions through major international experiments.
- Theoretical Particle Physics : Developing theoretical frameworks for understanding particles, forces, and the fundamental laws of nature.
- Computational Physics : Using advanced computation to study complex physical systems and questions that span multiple areas of physics.
