We argue that weak vacancy disorder (quenched non-magnetic impurities) leads to a local moment instability of short-range resonating valence bond (RVB) spin liquids on the triangular lattice, while such kagome lattice spin liquids are stable to weak vacancy disorder. Key elements of the argument are tested via QMC studies of designer Hamiltonians. We also argue that the low-dilution regime on the triangular lattice is likely to be characterized by dramatic violations of self-averaging of the susceptibility response.
