P. Coyle: The World’s Fastest Neutrino: Physics From an Active Galactic Nucleus into the Abyss?
- Starts: 3:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025
- Ends: 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025
In the Mediterranean Sea, two kilometer cube neutrino observatories comprising Km3Net, at 2 and 4 km deep, are searching for astrophysical sources of high energy cosmic neutrinos and are observing atmospheric neutrino oscillations. These facilities are uniquely cabled marine observatories also engaged in deep-sea biostudies.
The latest results include observation of atmospheric neutrino oscillations, tau neutrino appearance, neutrino mass ordering, searches for physics beyond the standard model, and the detection of an exceptional ultra-high energy cosmic neutrino, 2000 times more energetic that what is possible at the LHC
