Joshua Shifrinson is Core Faculty in Security & Cooperation at the Rising Powers Initiative at the Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, and an Associate Professor of International Relations at the Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University. He works on U.S. foreign policy, international relations theory, Cold War history, and international security, with particular emphasis on great power competition and grand strategy. He is the author of Rising Titans, Falling Giants: How Great Powers Explore Power Shifts (2018), and articles in International Security, International Politics, the Journal of Strategic Studies, The Washington Quarterly, and other venues. He received his Ph.D in Political Science from MIT, and has held fellowships with the Belfer Center, George Washington University, and Dartmouth College.
