Pardee Center Director Speaks on Floods and Disasters at Oberlin College
Prof. Adil Najam, Director Pardee CenterThe Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future, Prof. Adil Najam, spoke at a special event at Oberlin College on the devastation caused by the recent floods in Pakistan and on its developmental consequences for the country. The event, held on the evening of November 3, 2010, was co sponsored by the Politics, Environmental Studies, and History departments, along with the Jewish Chaplain’s office and the Muslim Students Association.
In his presentation Prof. Najam presented an overview of the scale of the floods and of its impacts and then discussed at length its implications in terms of development and how it will impact the future trajectory of development in the politically embattled country. The event was attended by a cross-section of students from across different disciplines.
