Katie Hamel
Special Projects Administrator, Office of the Dean, College of Arts & Sciences
I became a Terrier F1RSTS Advocate because, as an undergrad, I was inspired by my first-gen friends’ independence and positivity. At the same time, I saw them miss out on opportunities. For instance, a first-gen friend recently confided in me that she didn’t study abroad because she didn’t realize there were resources to help her finance the trip.
I’m a Terrier FIRSTS Advocate to help students navigate the “Hidden Curriculum” of higher education. I also love chatting with students and learning more about them. As a central admin, I work with almost every office in the College of Arts & Science. Please feel free to drop by or shoot me an email any time!
