Being first gen presented challenges throughout the pursuit of my education. Now that I teach and mentor students, I’ve become very aware of the hidden curriculum and do not want any more first gen students to be unaware of that and to do what I can to help them become their own advocates.

I am currently a Posse Scholar Mentor of Bay 3 (class of 2023) and have been a BPS Community Scholars Mentor and AWIS Mentor. I co-founded BU’s GWISE while I was a doctoral student here at BU. I am currently the Biology Antiracism Committee Co-chair and the Staff Advisor on the CAS Diversity and Inclusion Action Team.
