Kristen McCormack

Master Lecturer

I raised my children in Boston; they attended the Boston Public Schools. I saw firsthand the disparity in opportunities available to young people living in the city vs. in the suburbs–primarily due to income inequality. This led me to found one of Boston’s first charter schools, the Neighborhood House Charter School. I also serve on the board of a foundation that supports many college prep programs for under resourced communities. Programs such as the Steppingstone Foundation, the Bottom Line, Summerbridge and others. Through this experience I have witnessed the difference that ongoing mentoring and support –and sometimes just a friendly face (!) can have in assuring college success.
