Our Mission

  • Perform innovative basic, translational, and clinical research on emerging infectious diseases and provide the necessary information and understanding to develop diagnostic tests, treatments, and vaccines to promote and protect the public’s health
  • Provide education and training in these areas of research in order to nurture and develop the next generation of scientists and other professionals in this field, and to support a national response in the event of a biodefense emergency
  • Establish a research facility with the highest attention to community and laboratory safety and security

“Research and education are central to our economy and are what make Boston different from most other cities. We want to be a premier emerging infectious diseases institute, not only in the United States, but in the world.”

– Ronald B. Corley, PhD, Director, NEIDL
