Construction of pocket park, curb replacement and new brick paving
National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
January 10, 2007
Beginning Monday morning August 13, 2007 the sidewalk path on the south side of Albany Street will be redirected to facilitate the replacement of curbs, new brick paving on the sidewalk as well as the construction of a new pocket park, lighting, planting and the final security walls and fencing at the NEIDL’s perimeter along the sidewalk. On Saturday, August 11, 2007, contractors will commence preparations for the installation of a new perimeter construction fence line just beyond the curb on the street side and a new sidewalk area will be provided in what is now the parking lane next to the existing curb line.
Access to all handicapped accessible ramps and crosswalks will be maintained and all necessary safety precautions will be taken. The projected time for completion is two months. It is anticipated that the project will pose minimal inconvenience to pedestrians as construction will include new markings and signage to clearly indicate re-routed pedestrian travel paths.
