CONSTRUCTION AND E~ALUATION OF AN INSTRUMENT TO DETEru.:rNE TEACHER ,,!ORALE IN A SCHOOL SYSTEMThe Pickering Educational Resources Library is glad to accept into our collections a Master’s thesis written at the Boston University School of Education by Eleanor Roberta Walker in 1953.

The thesis, Construction and Evaluation of an Instrument to Determine Teacher Morale in a School System, addresses the problem of teacher burnout – still a very hot topic today, more than 50 years later.

After earning a teaching certificate from Wheelock Kindergarten Training School in 1933, Miss Walker became a life-long educator teaching kindergarten and later first grade to generations of families in the town of Belmont MA.  While continuing to teach, Miss Walker earned her BA in 1942 and Master in Education 1953 both from Boston University. Her dedication to the profession is on display within the thesis. The library thanks Polly Walker, Roberta Walker Miksad, Debbie Walker Michelsen and Eben Walker for this donation in honor of their Aunt.
