Join us for a presentation by Dr. Andy Gomez. Born in Cuba, Dr. Gomez cofounded the University of Miami’s Institute of Cuban and Cuban American Studies in 1999. He has also held other senior posts at UM including Vice Provost and Dean of International Affairs. He received the Presidential Medal of UM from the President Donna Shalala in 2013. Dr. Gomez is a Doctor in Education Administration from Harvard University and served as Under Secretary of Education in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1991-4. He has published several books on Cuba including Social Challenges facing Cuba (2013) and Lessons from Abuelo: History of Cuba (2023).
